Eunice Kennedy Shriver had one vision - to show the world that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities could achieve and thrive in society. Her vision and legacy live on through two organizations - Best Buddies and Special Olympics. These organizations are changing the world, using sports, friendship and jobs as a basis for acceptance and understanding.

To further ensure that Mrs. Shriver's legacy lives on, please join my efforts to support Best Buddies and Special Olympics as they launch a special event for families in the nation's capital. The inaugural Eunice Kennedy Shriver Challenge pays tribute to the vision, commitment and achievements of Mrs. Shriver and the tradition of making a difference that began in her backyard. The day will honor her inspiration, impact and indomitable spirit and challenge generations to "play on" by becoming agents of acceptance and action in their communities.
